Located in Flathead County, Montana, Whitefish is a popular tourist attraction. As of 2017, about 7,600 year-round residents called the community home. Development of this city dates back to 1904 when the Great Northern Railway was built through the area. Previously known as Stumptown because of the abundant timber found here, the name Whitefish was designated in the 1940s for nearby Whitefish Lake.
